Car washes in the United States come in four main formats: the express tunnel, where you stay in the car while a conveyor pulls it through brushes or high-pressure jets; the full-service wash, where attendants vacuum and wipe down the interior after the tunnel; the self-service bay with a coin or card-operated pressure wand, foam brush and vacuums; and the hand wash, where a crew washes and dries the car by hand. Touchless tunnels skip the cloth brushes entirely and rely on chemicals and water pressure, which is gentler on paint but less effective on heavy grime. Most express chains sell an unlimited monthly plan, usually priced at two to three single washes, that is only worth it if you wash more than twice a month. Gas stations often bundle a discounted wash with a fill-up.
Hours are published for 7 days a week. The most common schedule is 7 am–8 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (248) 646-5533. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. Its website is jaxkarwash.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.
On Google it holds a rating of 4.3 out of 5 from 826 reviews, which is a strong result for a car wash in Birmingham and suggests consistent service.
Birmingham is in Michigan, in the Midwest, where summers are warm, winters are cold and snowy, and most errands are done by car; businesses keep steady year-round hours with the usual holiday changes. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Birmingham follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Worst location I’ve been to so far. I typically go to the one on greenfield and the evergreen location is back. I happened to be passing this location in Birmingham, so I figured I’d give it a shot. First of all, figuring out where to drive into the place is not straightforward and is quite awkward. The guy who was hosing off the cars asked for my receipt, which I had not grabbed. But the bar won’t raise unless it recognizes your license plate, so not sure why he needed that. Neither of the other locations have ever asked me for a receipt. Since I didn’t have mine, he had to call over to someone and then punch in something on the machine. The wash experience is also very short and the equipment appears a bit rundown compared to the other two locations that I have been to. The light at the end of the (short ) tunnel was the two staff members who were towel drying the cars. They were smiling in the 95 degree heat and did a thorough job drying off my vehicle. I will not return to this location

I know Jax's is under new owners. But I'm writing this review to let you all know Shawn, House, and Rafael did an outstanding job on my truck today. Especially House. No rushing. Making sure everything got done... I also heard Greg the am mgr is gone. You all lost an excellent manager, one that made sure the customer is always satisfied. Your service is not what it used to be. But ensure you recognize those 3 guys I mention.. Awesome clean service today with a smile. Goes a long way... 5 Stars is coming I hope.... I've been a club member a long time...

Great service & relatively fast pass through. I’ve got a membership & patron different locations through the area. Each one will clean your car well, however egress/ingress varies; Birmingham’s compact location is effective, yet will require precision driving just to get in and out. This location does not have all use vacuums (however you can ask & they will help). Because of the tight navigation & no general vaccums & have 4 stars. Still this is a great place.

I’ve been going to JAX Car Wash at Woodward and Maple in Birmingham for a while now, and they consistently do a great job. The location is convenient, the process is efficient, and the staff is professional and attentive. What stands out most is the attention to detail. They don’t just rush cars through — they take the time to make sure everything is properly cleaned, dried, and finished. The vacuums are strong, the equipment is well maintained, and the entire operation feels organized. It’s more than just a quick wash; it’s a quality experience. If you’re in the Birmingham area and want your car cleaned properly without hassle, JAX is a reliable choice.
